The Martian

If the film Alfonso Cuaron's 'Gravity' for long scared kids become astronauts, the "Martian" Scott aims to change the situation. In fact, two of these films - just the opposite. Since the main characters - inexperienced and somewhat cowardly woman Dr. Stone and experienced man with steel eggs astronaut Watney, respectively; ending with completely different pace of the narrative - intense and rapid Cuaron and have measured and calm Scott. Parallels quite a lot, but I would like to talk yet about the movie itself.



"Martian" amazingly good from a scientific point of view. I am not able to say that everything in it is authentic (due to the inability to check), but most of the picture shown in the scientific ideas transferred to them with great awe and respect. The painting is impregnated well-written dialogues and lively, appropriate humor, which, for once (a miracle!), Does not spoil even the Russian dubbing.

I do not want to dwell on some technical aspect of the film, as they performed well, and there is no fault with him well, no desire. The same applies to the game and directing actors - well, not a "normal" or "great" just fine. Unfortunately, to say more about them and nothing. Perhaps a few disappointing music composed by Harry Gregson-Williams, who well, I chur standard and absolutely memorable.

The main problem of the film - it is rather a problem of the source. Action sags badly in the second act, and somewhere much hurry in the third. From this it seems certain incomplete action, despite the fact that the length of tape is a good two and a half hours. In other words, it seems that the author wrote the ending to ... well, you understand. In the film, among other things, very little is designated his main idea - that all people are really kind and instinctively like to help each other. The idea, to put it mildly, a controversial and extremely naive. And when you do not buy the idea of ​​the painting, to buy into everything else becomes quite difficult.

In addition, the irrepressible Mark Watney very difficult to empathize. Its as if nothing is able to confuse and no obstacle to it is not scary. The film completely absent bad or just unpleasant characters, and the time factor is reduced to insignificant. Accordingly, the viewer does not fear for the fate of the hero Matt Damon, in addition to short extracts no more than two minutes. And instead of relief and joy for escaped astronaut, you are leaving the room with a sense of "Well ... okay." This is the rare case where the move away from the source needed. But, as I said, it's not a problem of the film, he's good. However, not more than that.

In conclusion, I can only say that no one will recommend to look "Martian" in 3D, as I did. The film is clearly not designed for this format, due to the lack of any entertainment, for 80 per cent consists of monologues and dialogues. Apparently, the inclusion of a three-dimensional format, it was only necessary to obtain additional income for the studio, but not for more sensations to the audience.

Be that as it may, the positive impressions of paintings outweigh its disadvantages. Ridley Scott turned Mighty measured film that lacks the stars from the sky and does not pretend to something great, but that is definitely worth seeing at least once. Just do not expect too much of him.
