Crimson Peak

Mexican Guillermo del Toro after two of his iconic paintings gained cult status and interesting filmmakers working in a very unusual visual style. "The Devil's Backbone" and "Pan's Labyrinth" gained a huge success, thanks to the brilliant stylistic pitch and verified the degree of intrigue, despite its arthouse component. But after the director fully devoted himself to the mainstream in the film - a film about the two "Hellboy" (created with incredible fiction), children's fun colorful "Pacific Rim." And the new project "Crimson Peak" it was presented as a return to the roots "scary tales for adults" that is, the picture is not massive, and even intimate chamber.

And the first hour tape sincerely think "Crimson Peak" an absolute masterpiece. American land in the era of industrial achievements, the vital spirit of the Victorian era, the magnificent interiors, Pestryaev its proprietary redundancy perfectly suits sitting at glossy images characters in the movie. Actually visual component at some point begins to prevail, but it does not regret. Aesthetics, formed by the director, is striking in its beauty - textured interiors Gothic arches in the corridor spans with sharp spikes, walls, exuding mucus and blood, moths crawling on rotten boards, eaten by the winds of time and a lone dark castle.

And such magnificent scenery are ideal frame to put the scene where everything is focused on the creation of indescribable atmosphere terrible, frightening, but so exciting that breath. Heroes come in the old family estate, and through the leaky roof of the hall showered dry autumn leaves. Or even one episode - the main character in a fit of despair opens doors and breaks into the hall whirlwind of snow. Elements of mysticism in these surreal paintings require a separate chanting - allegorical hinting at the secrets of the family owners of the mansion ghosts disgusting, purple, black or darkly, the type of which runs through the slight chill bumps.

Guillermo del Toro is accurate not only visually, musically (each sound emphasis placed delicately up to the yawning dog), but also in the choice of actors. One feels this trademark, which allows to achieve a perfect result. Mia Wasikowska and Tom Hiddleston very organically in their way that connoisseurs of their filmography is not surprising. Just a few years ago, the Australian actress starred in the recent production of "Jane Eyre" and the British played in the movie "Miss Austen Regrets". Jessica Chastain focuses more attention on his demonic way, full of passion lurking. Admittedly absolutely all the characters have turned out at del Toro "bulk" and memorable, even if it is a secret spy-style "Bremen Town Musicians", which appears in the frame on a matter of minutes.

"Crimson Peak" played in the tradition of such classic novels as "Jane Eyre" Bronte and "Rebecca" du Maurier, but with the addition of elements of the mystical thriller. This combination creates a whimsical style perfectly verified in the world, it would seem, in the familiar surroundings of the XIX century. But such a plot basis and plays a cruel joke, giving the tape too soft, thereby reducing it to the category of potential rabid 'ladies' novel', albeit an incredibly beautiful from a visual standpoint. You can easily blame the picture of all mortal sins for the inability to spin dashing nerve and pull tension, but is it worth it to do with the main contender for the "Oscar" in the category devoted to the chanting of the beautiful ...
